Want to be Merry? Celebrate the Blueberry!
Cloverdale’s Blueberry Festival
Saturday August 7, 2004

BC is blessed with delicious local blueberries, and thanks to Cloverdale we’re celebrating! Cloverdale, the historic center of Surrey, honours the blueberry with a festival of food, displays, art, BMX, busker entertainment and activities that are sure to tickle the tongue, the ears and the eyes of every age group.

When you and your friends and family make your way to Clover Square Village on August 7 you’ll be greeted with samples of berry recipes in all kinds of shapes and sizes – but all are sure to be tasty blue! You’ll be smacking your lips after the tantalizing treat just as you discover the Farmer’s Market with fresh produce and crafts galore. But for now you pick up some juicy blueberries for munching as you explore the festival. No doubt you’ll head back to the Farmer’s Market later for more berries to take home, plus shop for other local produce, honey, jams, arts and crafts.

As your tongue curls around those sweet blueberries while you meander through the festival, you discover one of the 110 buskers that are entertaining that day. The Morris Dancers dazzle you and yours with their traditional celtic dancing, then the magician mystifies with his tricks. You find clowns, singers, baton twirlers and more busking on the historic Cloverdale streets, all part of the busker competition. Artists will be there too, creating blueberry creations on canvass before your very eyes. All artists will have the blueberry as model in the Blueberry Plein Air Competition, but only a select few can win the cash prizes. But wait -- what’s that you see out of the corner of your eye? It’s a mountain bike flying through the air! That’s right, you’ll witness the best of BMX in honour of the blueberry.

Next you’re whisked away to one of BC’s biggest blueberry farms for a tour and activities. The hourly shuttle to Clover Farms picks you up right from the town centre. You might decide to spend the rest of the day at the farm where you enjoy a hay ride, solve the corn maze and more. For the Blueberry Festival only, you could even pick your own blueberries.

The fun never stops at the Cloverdale Blueberry Festival !
